MelFilter

A deprecated type of object in Praat. It has been replaced by the MelSpectrogram.

An object of type MelFilter represents an acoustic time-frequency representation of a sound: the power spectral density P(f, t), expressed in dB's. It is sampled into a number of points around equally spaced times ti and frequencies fj (on a Mel frequency scale).

The frequency in mels is:

mels = 2595 * log10 (1 + hertz / 700),

and its inverse is:

hertz = 700 * (10.0mel / 2595.0 - 1).
