With ultrasound equipment (also called echography) you can observe the movements of the tongue in the oral cavity. We have an ultrasound machine (Telemed Echo Blaster 128):
In this picture you see the probe lying flat on the box. You use this probe by anointing it with gel and holding it in midsagittal position against the floor of the mouth.
The picture also shows the Articulate Assistant Advanced software that you use for viewing.
