Change the intonation and duration of speech
- Open sentence in praat (eg, assignment 1/2)
- Create a Word tier (Help -> Praat Intro -> Intro 7. Annotation)
- Add the (aligned) words to the tier
- Copy to a Phoneme tier
- Then add (split into) the phonemes
- Create a manipulation (Help -> Praat Intro -> Intro 8. Manipulation)
- Stylize the Pitch (Edit -> Pitch -> Stylize Pitch (2 st))
- Move the stress(-es) and accents to a different word(s)
- What are the contributions of intonation, duration, and intensity?
The Manipulation editor allows you to add and remove points in the F0 or duration tier using the Pitch and Dur menu tabs. These points can be dragged around. Note that the Dur points are multiplication factors and very sensitive to displacements. You need several points to change either the F0 or the duration sensibly.
