Your platform’s way of controlling where sounds will be played, and how loud.
On macOS X or 11 or 12 or 13 or 14 or 15 or 26, go to the Apple menu, then to System Settings (older: System Preferences), then to Sound, then to Output. If you want to change only the loudness, then modern Macs have three keys on the keyboard for that.
On Ubuntu Linux 22.04 or 24.04, the fastest way is to click the loudspeaker icon in the menu bar, then click the Settings symbol (or the cartwheel), then Output (otherwise, look for the Settings app, then Sound, then Output).
On Windows 10 or 11, it lies somewhat deeper: go to the Start icon, then to Settings, then to System, then to Sound, then to Output.
