A deprecated type of object in PRAAT. It is replaced by the MelSpectrogram.
An object of type MelFilter represents an acoustic timefrequency representation of a sound: the power spectral density P(f, t), expressed in dB's. It is sampled into a number of points around equally spaced times t_{i} and frequencies f_{j} (on a Mel frequency scale).
The frequency in mels is:
mels = 2595 * log10 (1 + hertz / 700),
and its inverse is:
hertz = 700 * (10.0^{mel / 2595.0}  1).
