Summary Text DVA11Q Relation Speakers: Close, Informal Relation Speakers: Friends List of Topics: Moroccan meal, Jamie Oliver, Restaurant, Work, Education, VMBO, ROC MBO Summary: 2 Speakers (F28R and F28Q) F28Q begins the conversation by describing what she cooked last night for the theatre group. She prepared a Moroccan meal. She tried a new dessert and everyone was enthusiastic so she was happy. Then the topic of conversation moves to Jamie Oliver’s cooking books. F28R mentions that she thinks that he is a real TV personality. Every product that he is associated with becomes a success. F28Q wonders if he is really a good chef, or that his fame has become more of a commercial hype. This discussion reminds F28Q of a friend of hers who met with an entrepreneur. He wants to open a restaurant in Rotterdam. His project is similar to Jamie Oliver’s Restaurant Fifteen, that gives disadvantaged youth the opportunity to learn a profession as a chef and assists them in finding employment1. Her friend wants to work for the project as a psychologist, F28Q wants to work there as well. Then F28Q asks F28R about her work. F28R says that her work is to approach youth from the VMBO who do not know what they want to do next. This involves students who both graduated and who did not graduate, because ROC MBO also accepts students with no prior education for some forms of education. She has to approach youth from all levels and varieties. They discuss the different levels and F28Q says that she only has some knowledge of the system because her sister is a VMBO-student. F28R thinks that her work is very interesting because she is learning about all the different varieties. F28Q mentions that the group F28R is working with is probably a group that needs a bit more attention. F28R agrees that this is the case with most students.
