The UvA speech lab in Amsterdam: electroglottography

1. The core equipment

With electroglottography (EGG) you can observe the vibration of the vocal folds. We have an electroglottograph device from Laryngograph:

In this picture you see the two copper disks connected to a band. You use this by putting the band gently around your neck, with the two disks touching the skin on both sides of the larynx, at the height of the glottis.

The output of this device is an EGG signal that can be viewed with Praat.
